why air conditioners are installed at a height while heaters
are placed down. Why is it so?

As you know hot air Rises up and cold air settles down so room heater is placed near to the floor so that the heat can move uniformly from down to up. similarly, the air conditioner is placed near silly so that it can cool both the upside of the room and the cold air can go downside so that there is uniform cooling.
