air is called a mixture because it contains number of gases like nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen ,carbon dioxide , water vapour all these are mixed in air that's why air is called mixture.

In a mixture two or more than two constituents of different things (particles) are mixed together. The composition is not always fixed.

Air is also a mixture of various gaes.

We knoe air has 78% nitrogen gas 21% oxygen gas and small amount of other gases. The composition is not fixed. Gases present in air can be separated.

Sometimes some pollutants may enter in air. So composition of air is not fixed therefore it is a mixture.

Hope this helps:)
