Air is a mixture and not a compound because of following reasons: Air can be separated into its constituents such as oxygen, nitrogen etc. by fractional distillation of liquid air. Air shows the properties of all the gases present in it. For example: Air supports combustion because of oxygen present in air.

Answer:

Explanation:

a mixture can be separated by physical means but a compound cannot. air can be separated by fractional distillation

air doesnt have any fixed componats like the % of CO2 can increase at anytime but a compound has a fixed component

air doesnt go through chemical reaction. like oxygen doesnt react with co2 i air but compound undergo chemical reactions

compound have a specific formula but not mixtures . air doesnt have a formula.
