Albatross is considered as a holy bird by the sailor because at such places they have not seen a single living creature, so this bird is not only the bird for them but the happiness and glory to see a living organism where they had not seen the living creatures from many days.
Albatross is a hope for that sailors who have not seen anything living at that places...So in this way Albatross is considered as a holy bird for sailors.
Characteristics of Albatross are :
● It has the longest wingspan....say upto 11 feet.
● They have got suprisingly a good sense of smell.
● they are the largest of the Procellariiformes.
● The albatross eats cephalopods, fish, crustaceans.
● They mostly kill their prey at ocean surface.
