why AlCl3 is partially ionic ​

The electronegativity of aluminum is 1.61 and for chlorine, it is 3.16 . So the difference between electronegativity is 1.55 and hence the bond is not purely ionic. Yet it is slightly close to 1.9 ,so the bond between Al and Cl contains some partial character of ionic bond .
