Alkali metals have low ionisation energy so alkali metal ions are held together by valance electron cloud.

These force is uniform in all directions. So alkali metal ions can move from one lattice site to another easily​. And they can be drawn into wires ( ductile) and beaten into sheets (maliable ) .
