Why alkali metals cannot be used in voltiac cell

Alkali metal can not be used in voltaic cells.  because of their High negative values of standard electrode potential of Alkali metals which indicates that they are easily oxidized and in voltaic cells water is used as solvent and Alkali metals are readily oxidized in water. Therefore they can not be used in voltaic cells.
