please check. the alkali metals have largest size in their respective periods. this is because on going from left to right in a period, both the electrons and nuclear charge increase. however, the electrons are filled in the same shell. they are attracted more and more towards the nucleus which overpowers the interelectronic repulsions too. therefore alkali metals have largest size in their respective period
