Alkenes posses double bonds between two carbon atoms, how can they start from first series where there is only one c atom?

it is because alkene has general formula CnH2n...
if it would to be start from 1 then the first compound would be CH2 and in this case the four valency of carbon would not be completed.... so alkene series are started from 2 instead of 1.
