why all oxide compounds with higher oxidation state are of acidic character??

In the case of a lower oxide of an element, the atom has a low oxidation state. This means that some of the valence electrons of the metal atom are not involved in bonding. so theiroxides are acidic in nature. but in the lower oxidation state ionic character ismore so metal oxides are basic innature.
