Alloys generally have higher resistance than the pure metals that they are made of, because the alloy disorder of the atoms causes additional electron scattering. Nichrome - which is an alloy of nickel and chromium, is usually a good choice.

1.because it's resistivity is higher than that of pure metal.
2.an alloy doesn't undergo oxidation(or burn)easily even at high temp,when it is red hot
