why alpha chlorobutyric acid is more acidic than beta chlorobutyric acid

Hey there :

This is probably because the electronegative chlorine atom is closer to the COOH  group and thus exerts a stronger inductive effect (-)  and helps in removal of proton(+H). In beta chlorobutanoic acid , the effect is weaker as the chlorine atom is farther away .........
