Aluminium can easily be used to produce hydrogen gas by reacting it with hydrochloric acid. The reaction is as follows:

2Al + 6HCl = 2AlCl3 + 3H2

Even Aluminium can be reacted with conc. solution of a base like NaOH to produce hydrogen. The reaction is as follows:

2Al + 2NaOH + 6H2O = 2Na[Al(OH)4] + 3H2
