Why aluminum is denser than Copper​

Copper is more dense than aluminum. Aluminum atoms have a smaller atomic radius and presumably you could pack more aluminum atoms into a space than copper atoms. But copper atoms are over twice the mass of aluminum atoms, and so the combination of mass and volume give copper a greater density. D = m / V

D (copper) = 8.89 g/cm³ …..… atomic radius = 135 pm …. atomic mass = 63.5 g/mol

D (aluminum) = 2.70 g/cm³…. atomic radius = 125 pm …. atomic mass = 27.0 g/mol

so the copper cube contains more atoms than the aluminium cube although they are smaller individual copper atoms actually have more mass than individual atoms
