The reason for ammeter resistance to be low is because it can accurately read the current flowing in the circuit. When theammeter resistance is low, almost all the current in the circuit is allowed to pass through the ammeter.

It must be placed in series with measured branch and must have a very low resistance to avoid significance alteration of the current is used to measure.by contrast and voltmeter must be connected in parallel..
