Why ammonia is collected by downward displacement of air in the laboratory ?? Its a short question .!

This is because air is heavier than ammonia, so it settles down in the jar, and ammonia is on top. This is just like water and oil , water in the place of air, and ammonia in the place of oil. just like oil is always above water, similarly ammonia is above air.
