As you can see every one of these gases deviates from ideal gas. However you can compare some of the characteristics of gases.


Let’s compare He and NH3. Parameter a presents attraction and parameter b repulsion.


So a(NH3)>a(He) this is because NH3 forms hydrogen bonds and is polar.


b(NH3)>b(He) because NH3 molecule is bigger than He.


As you can see in the graph He and H2 only go upwards in graph. This is because they aren’t polar so there is little to no attraction between the molecules.
