why amphibians come to land if they can breathe in water​

Most amphibians breathe through lungs and their skin. Their skin has to stay wet in order for them to absorb oxygen so they secrete mucous to keep their skin moist (If they get too dry, they cannot breathe and will die). ... Tadpoles and some aquatic amphibians have gills like fish that they use to breathe.

Breathing underwater isn't easy for many species of amphibians, so they might need to surface for air if they're working hard (escaping a predator, for example) whereas they can meet their oxygen needs underwater if they're at rest. Many frogs and toads can even breathe through thick mud during hibernation
