why an acidic soil is treated with quick lime

Acidic soil as the name itself says that the soil is rich in acidic compunds.

Quick lime is basic in nature.

Since plants can't survive in acidic soil ,so we uses bases like quicklime to neutralise the effect of acids in the soil.

Here which neutraliaton reaction takes place removing the acidity of soil and maintain the level of acid in soil.
