why an oscillating pendulum having mechanical energy stops itself after sometime?

it is due to the restoring tendency of pendulum and frictional force of the air surrounding it.

There is continuous loss of energy during oscillations in the form of friction along with the air resistance.Thus after sometime as the pendulum loses energy continuously it stops and comes into rest.
