- The civil disobedience movement was started on 12 March 1930.
- Gandhiji had made certain demands on behalf of the Indian National Congress to British government. When lord Irwin refused to cooperate, Gandhiji began the Salt march which marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience movement.
