ELECTROWINNING OF ALUMINIUM in the Al(OTf)3 solution indicated a visible cathodic peak at -2.8V vs Ag/Ag+ in Acetonitrile.

The Hoopes process is a metallurgical process, used to obtain the aluminium. During electrolysis, Al3+ ions from the middle layer migrate to the upper layer, where they are reduced.
