This is because building a structure is not easy. Designing it includes lot of mathematics and is a big work

Archaeology is an expensive field because archaeology is much more than just digging.

Before an excavation an exhaustive, planning and design takes place.

Resources like correspondence, reports, tables, diaries, newspapers, maps, plant, illustrations and photographs have to be collected.

An excavation cannot be performed by a bunch of people.

A highly experienced, skilful and knowledgeable team is needed.

And while working in the excavating site a lot of thing has to be taken care of like the environment, the structures and much more.

To perform all these tasks a large amount of money is required.

That’s why archaeology is expensive.
