- here when you multiple 1&4 you get the answer 4 & 4 - 1 will be 3 which is the middle term

¼ and -1 are the zeroes of 4x² + 3x -1 because on solving the equation by middle term splitting method we get the values of the X as ¼ and -1... see,
4x² + 3x -1 = 0
4x² + 4x -x -1 = 0
4x (x + 1) - 1 (x + 1)
(4x - 1) (x + 1)
Taking 4x - 1,
4x - 1 = 0
4x = 1
x = ¼----------→First zero of p(x) 4x² + 3x -1
Similarly, taking x + 1,
x + 1 = 0
x = -1----------→Second zero of p(x) 4x² + 3x -1
[Please note that I have solved the above answer by Splitting the Middle Term method which is given in Class X]
