Because it needs ejection of gases at higher pressure so that they can use more thrust force. But it is wider in front because it needs more area so that it can use more air and can burn it with compression chamber in opposite direction.--according to newton's third law of motion.

Streamlined shape of aeroplane is connected with flying time and when it does so, then there is no concept exists in air.
