aldehydes and ketones are polar due to presence of carbon and oxygen double bond. oxygen being strongly electronegative pulls the orbital electron pair towards itself thereby gaining partial negative charge on it, and carbon becomes partially positive. formation of such dipoles makes these compounds polar.
