why are alkali metals kept in kerosene oil

Alkali metals are very reactive in nature.
They react vigorously with Oxygen & water.
Therefore they need to be kept in kerosene which doesn't allow it react .

because it react voilently with cold water and air thats why it is kept with kerosene oil
