The alluvial soils of North India are having rivers (Ganga basin) that bring silt with them.
On the other hand, soils of peninsular India do not have any such river.(There are rivers but they do not bring on silt). Also, the soils near the coast may be affected by the salts in the seawater, reducing soil quality.
