these soil are formed by the sediment carried By The River. the river deposits very fine particles called alluviam in their plains during the course of their long journey. it is a mixture of sand clay and silt called loam. these has been deposited by the three main rivers Indus Ganga and Brahmaputra the soil occupies 40% of land area the entire Northern Plains are made up of this soil. and in the peninsular region due to different climatic conditions the alluvial soil of of North India is more fertile than alluvial soil of Peninsular India
