why are anti-biotics not effective for virus disease

they are less effective against viruses than they are againstbacteria. Antibiotic drugs kill bacteria by disrupting their cell walls. But virus' external covering, known as the viral envelope, is almost identical to the host cell's membranes, making them difficult to target.

antibiotics are not effective for virus because it's function is to break down the cell wall formed by bacteria while virus do not form cell wall. so it is not effective in disease caused by virus
