that's b cauz anti biotics act on the special biological parhway of a microorganisms but as viruses do not show any movement before affecting the cell so it is very difficult to find biological pathway to destroy viruses. therefore such medicines aren't yet made.

antibiotics rupture the cell wall and protein formation pathway of bacteria, hence stoping it's growth.
it can't be effective against virus as virus dnt hv cell wall and they use the machinery of host cell to make their protein pathway... and cant disturb the host cell machinery
so it is advised to use antibiotics for bacterial disease not viral diseases
