Antibiotics kill bacteria by damaging their cell wall and making way for white blood cells or by any other means but viral diseases are caused because of viruses which have a very different body structure. This makes it very difficult or impossible for Antibiotics to do any damage to the virus. Hence, Antibiotics are not effective for viral diseases.

⇒ Many Bacteria make cell wall to protect themselves.
⇒ The antibiotic penicillin blocks the bacterial processes that build the cell wall.
⇒ As a result, The growing bacteria are unable to make cell wall and die easily.
⇒ But viruses do not use this path ways therefore antibiotic do not work against viral infection.
