Why are antiviral medicines difficult to make than antibacterial medicines?

Because the virus does not have a metabolisms of its own and it has very few biochemical pathways. So killing virus means killing our body cells because they use them to multiply themselves. Whereas bacteria are easy to kill. This is the reason why antiviral medicines are difficult to make then the antibacterial medicines. Hope it helps.
