Why are arteries rigid than veins

its actually they are thicker than veins because they have to withstand high pressure as the heart pumps blood into the arteries against the force of gravity.

The blood flowing through artries is pumped by the heart. Artries are more rigid because they have to bear that amount of heart pressure. If not so, the artries will break down. To avoid this, artries are more rigid than viens.
