let me tell you that even atoms are not the smallest particle. Even atoms can be dovided further into electrons protons and neutrons

iamtan: Even further electrons have parts called quarks
Donald1: yeah
Kabiraghav: well that is true but that is the problem I knew that they have more smaller parts so why quarks are not considered as the smallest particle in the world
iamtan: I guess it is because atoms are considered smallest particle according to Dalton’s atomic theory that was given a long time ago that is before the existence of quarks
iamtan: Sorry not existence but discovery of quarks

Hey there,

Atoms are said to be the smallest unit of matter that are are indivisible in nature. If we do not use the term "indivisible" then the answer will be wrong. LET ME ELABORATE!

An atom also constitute of electron, protons and neutrons which are smaller than atoms. But these elementary particles do not exist in free state and hence will not form matter.

Similarly an atom of anti-matter constitutes of anti-protons, anti-protons and positrons. These elementary particles will too not exist in native state and hence will not form anti-matter.

Universe is made of waves and particles. Particles are made of matter and matter is made of atoms.

Hence atom is the smallest elementary particle currently existing in the universe discovered till date.

Though scientist claim to have seen existence of "GOD-PARTICLE" or "HIGGS-BOSON" in native state which may take the place of atom of being the smallest indivisible particle of universe in the coming future.

This will put a full stop to elementary physics and give rise to multi-quantum physics. The laws of physics be it gravitation, elasticity, viscosity or even everything would be changed and perhaps Newton would then be remembered as an epic failure.

LET'S HOPE WE DON'T HAVE TO SEE THAT DAY ANYTIME SOON!

Have i gone too far?
If yes, then I am extremely sorry for that cause space and time fascinates me a lot!!!
