Bells are not made of wood but of metals because when they are banged they create good sound beacuse of their property of being sonorous.Non-metals do not posses this ability.

Metals are sonorous. That is, they make a ringing sound when they are hit. Thus, they are made up of metals. They are usually made of iron. Very rarely with silver and gold.

What if they are made of non metals?

Most of the non metals are not sonorous. Thus, it became a difficult to produce sound.
