boats and aeroplanes are given a special shape to reduce the air assistance and water resistance respectively... so that they could move faster in highest speed and less energy is wasted...

They are given streamlined shape becausee they can go through air wit out getting the opposite force ...this is the reason ships have huge sails to trap the wind and move with the help of wind ...but in planes and boats they need to go against the wind so they have a pointed head so as to divide the opposing air and piercing through it .
