Why are carbohydrates called food by CO2 is not considered as a fooD

Carbon dioxide is a kind of gas present in a atmosphere.It is toxic and harmful to humans by increasing temperature and cause global warming. But carbohydrates in our body acts as main source of energy.Foods like bread, pasta, potatoes, cereals and etc are high in carbohydrates.One gram of carbohydrate contains approximately 4 kilocalories so that's why carbohydrates called food but CO2 is not considered as a food.
