Cell is the smallest unit which makes up the living body. It has a basic structure comprising of the Cytoplasm, enclosed within a Cell Membrane. The Cell Membrane will enclose several bio-molecules like proteins, nucleic acid etc.

A cell may function as a complete organism or it may have special functions.

The parts of a cell are well defined and each have their own function to perform. Hence, cells are said to exhibit ‘division of labour’.
