why are certain compounds called hydrocarbons​

Some compounds are called hydrocarbons because they are made up of carbon atoms and hydrogen atoms only.....

The organic compounds that have hydrogen and carbon are called haydrocarbons. Also, oxides,carbonates, bicarbonates of carbons are not hydrocarbons because they are inorganic compounds.
