Chloroplasts contain the green pigment chlorophyll. Chloroplast is a double-Membrane structure. It is divided into clear regions--- Grana and stroma. The molecules of chlorophyll are present in the grana. Storma forms the ground substance of the chloroplasts. Chloroplasts help in the preparation of food during photosynthesis. They are generally present in leaves.

Chloroplast are found only in plant cells because Chloroplast work to convert light energy of the Sun into sugars that can be used by cells. It contains a green pigment called Chlorophyll. This process is called photosynthesis and the green pigment is important for photosynthesis in green plant.
