Why are compact fluorescent lamps ( CFLs ) preferred over electric bulb ?

The electrical bulb uses more electric power and also wastes electrical energy in the form of heat. Whereas compact fluorescent lamps do not waste electrical energy in the form of heat and they also consume less energy.

CFL are compact flueroscent lamps. They are preffered over electric bulbs because:They work on chemical effect of electricity and not on heating effect of electricity. Thus they do not consume more energy as electric bulbs. Thus they are very cost efficient.
