Almost 95% of coral reefs in Southeast Asia arethreatened. Indonesia has the largest area ofthreatened coral reefs, with fishing threats being the main stressor on coral reefs. More than 75% of the coral reefs in the Atlantic are threatened.

Increased ocean temperatures and changing ocean chemistry are thegreatest global threats to coral reefecosystems.

These threats are caused by warmer atmospheric temperatures and increasing levels of carbon dioxidein seawater.

Coral reefs are under threat because of increasing ocean temperatures and changing ocean chemistry. The reasons for this is because of warmer atmospheric temperatures and increasing levels of carbon dioxide in seawater.

Pollution, overfishing and ocean acidification are also some causes.
