why are cyclone more frequent in india
Answers
Why are cyclone occurring in India? Will it be more frequent in the near future? Well, India has vulnerability to Cyclones than any other disaster. Cyclones in India are predominant during the north-east monsoon period. This mainly because of varied reasons. Ocean dipole creates a coupling effect(i.e. to understand the ocean dipole, it is the terminology in determining whether India is facing difference in surface temperature in both Arabian sea and Bay of bengal or not, by this we can also determine hottest and wettest years in India, in recent days this has been used in prediction of rainfall level). It is a common phenomenon that whenever the difference surmounts we will be facing extreme conditions. For instance, If temperature difference is high then we will be having hottest year, whereas if the temperature variance is low then we will be facing the disasters in the form of cyclones. Monsoon winds play a huge role in the formation of cyclones in India particularly during retreating monsoon period. The reason being these winds create a low pressure trough which are very intense in Bay of Bengal. However, the one that develops in Arabian sea doesn’t have that capability to attack India as it hits the land very quickly than our anticipation, whereas in bay of Bengal it gains strength before making a landfall because of the vast area of sea.
