Cyclones need several parameters to be conducive for formation and survival.
Sea surface temperature needs to be above 27 ℃. So that ample moisture is present.Wind shear meams change in direction of wind on height. If wind shear is high, it can kill the cyclone.Moisture supplies the fuel to form and survive.Vorticity builds clouds to form around the cyclone and developing thunderstorms. When a cyclone moves across land surface, it is cut off from the sea surface temperature, moisture supply gets distorted by the dry winds from land, and the rugged terrain blocks the wind around cyclone. With most of the parameters remaining unfavourable, cyclone dissipates faster when they move over land.
