Why are deserts sparsely populated ? If it is the hot weather, why then are the polar regions also sparsely populated ?

because at that desert their are less possibility of serving life ,because as climate is very hot and the availability of water is not there ,but these doesn't happens in the northern plain.so so population density is less in thar desert than in northern plain.
