Why are detergents better than better cleansing action than soap 0?

Hi, the insoluble scum sticks on  the clothes and so the cleaning capacity of soap is reduced.. the cleaning action of soap is very effective in soft water becoz it contains negligible calcium and magnesium ions.. on the other hand detergents are more soluble than soaps and hence form more lather than soaps ..i.e. detergents cleans more effectively in hard water than soaps becoz hard water contains calcium and magnesium ions that limit soap's cleaning abilities .. hope I'm somewhere helped u happy to help u :')
