earthworms are called the friends. of the farmers because they make the soil pure and fertile. microbes are also one of a kind of bacteria which are present in root nodules of a plant or in soil. the microbes fix nitrogen in soil and make the plant to take that in. the plant cannot take the nitrogen which is present in the air directly. so it may take it through the root nodules from the soil.

Earthworms and microbes help to increase the fertility of the soil by decomposing the waste(organic) material in the soil. Some microbes like rhizobium help in fixing the nitrogen. The nitrogen present in the a atmosphere cannot be used by the plants directly so these bacteria help in fixing the nitrogen. The rhizobium bacteria is generally found in the root nodules of the leguminous plants. Hence the earthworms and microbes help in increasing the quality of the soil. Therefore they are called friends of the farmers
