they help the soil to increase the intake of air and water. The breakdown the organic matters like leaves and grass into manure which is useful for the plants.whan they eat they leave behind castings which is very valuable kind of fertiliser .
all these activities of the earth worms help the farm and the farmers indirectly thus called farmers friend
