why are evergreen forests called so ?

The word evergreen means always green.

Evergreen forests are mostly found in the areas of heavy rainfall and receive a high amount of sunlight.

➦ In India these types of forest are found in the North-eastern India, western ghats, plains of West Bengal and Odisha .

There is no particular dry season, so the trees found in evergreen forest do not shed their leaves.So, it always appears green.

➦ In a short dry season these forest gains rainfall more than 200cm.

Evergreen forests are also called as rainforest, because these forests are characterized by high and continuous rainfall the whole year.

Trees found in evergreen forests seems green, such trees are Banksia in temperate zones,rainforest trees in tropical zones, coniferous and holly in cold climates, and eucalyptus, Live oak, acacias.

Animals such as elephants monkeys lemur deer, one-horned rhino, different spices of birds, bats sloth, scorpions and snails are found in evergreen forests.
